Calitri is a small village in Alta Irpinia. They call it the Positano of Irpinia, for that profile of colorful houses that can be seen in the distance, unmistakable in the panorama of Alta Irpinia. It is a beautiful and authentic place, home to the art of ceramics and cheeses. Calitri has been recognized by the National Ceramic Council as a 'City of ancient and established ceramic tradition.' The Council was established at the Mise â Ministry of Economic Development, a kind of register that certifies the Italian ceramic tradition of value and quality , allowing artisans a spendable recognition on international markets, like designations of origin for wine.
